Chapter 3

After Henry has told Anne that he wants to marry her and ask to keep it on the down low, it's time for the hunt! As the party gathers to leave Henry whispers to Anne "and you shall ride by my side, sweet-heart. I may be hunting a buck this day, but you, I do not want out of my sight." Soooooo much foreshadowing right there, if you already know what's going to happen to Anne. As the hunt proceeds Anne takes the charge after being asked by Henry. She feels somewhat shocked and empowered at the same time by taking charge and leading. Once she spots a buck, Henry orders the hounds and the party to hunt it. Anne stays behind with her father, and reveals to him that she and Henry are to be wed. Honestly from this part on, I'm disgusted by her father. His personality is selfish and egocentric. He only cares about rising in the world, not about his own daughter's well being. As the party comes back, they return to the castle to serve the buck.
This is where (past) Anne feels dirty and tired and ask for a bath. (Baths were not given regularly like today. You mostly bathed at the most 3-4 times a month. Yuck!) You also finally get to meet Anne's mother as she helps Anne bath. (personally I think she plays favoritism, but that's just me) She seems to be a nice woman, who cares a lot for her family.
